There is no single right length for Morocco, but there are sensible shapes. Our itineraries run from three to fifteen days, and they cluster in a few lengths that suit different kinds of trip.
In short: seven to ten days suits most first trips, five days works for one focused loop, and two weeks or more lets you see most of the country. The most common planning mistake is choosing a length before choosing what you want to see.
Seven days: one region, done properly
A week covers one region well, either the desert and mountains or the imperial cities, but not both. Ten days is enough for two regions without rushing either, and two weeks or more covers most of the country.
One-way routes save driving days, because you never retrace your steps. We shape the route around your dates once we know them.
Three to five days: one idea done well
A short trip works best when it has one theme: a city and its surroundings, or a single run to the desert. Our five-day Marrakech and Desert Adventure, for example, combines two days in Marrakech with a desert crossing and a full day at the dunes. Trying to add a second region usually means more time in the car than in the places.
Six to eight days: two regions
A week allows a city and a landscape, such as the imperial cities with the coast, or Marrakech with the Atlas and the desert. It is the length where most travellers get the balance of culture and scenery they hoped for.
Nine days or more: a fuller circuit
Beyond nine days you can link several regions without every day being a transfer, and add the quieter places, including the blue city of Chefchaouen or the Atlantic coast. Our longest itinerary runs fifteen days.
How to decide
- Count your nights on the ground, not the days of your flights.
- Allow a rest day after any long desert or mountain drive.
- Prefer fewer bases over more, unless you enjoy moving often.
If you are unsure, tell us your dates and what you hope to feel, and we will suggest a length and route rather than a fixed package.
